HAYDEN TEE GENERATION WHY 2009
The long and winding journey this album has already been on,
from conception to creation, has taken me around the world
and back. The initial idea came from a musical director I
was working with in London in 2005 who suggested I listen to
some 1980's material as a possible match for my voice type.
I could tell he was wanting to broaden my horizons from the
almost exclusively 'theatre music' found on my iPod at the
time. I was instantly reminded of the music that was playing
on the radio and television throughout my early life... the
background music or soundtrack to my life if you will. The
idea of recording an album live in front of an audience came
from a desire to capture the energy and adrenaline achieved
when a song is performed, not just sung... We invited an
audience into Trackdown Recording Studios at Fox Studios
Australia and over two shows, recorded the 12 tracks on this
album . |

HAYDEN TEE SELF TITLED 2006
My debut self-titled album was largely inspired by the cabaret shows I had been working on previously. I didn’t want to end up with a ‘cabaret album’ as such, so together with my musical director and arranger Nigel Ubrihien we compiled our set of story telling standards from across a wide range of musical genres and gave them what we like to call a folk/classical treatment. Some of my favourite songs and the songs I enjoy performing most of all are on this album, everything from Music Theatre, Classical and Jazz standards, each with its own unique interpretation.
